19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hard surfaces
A resurgent Medvedev won his maiden title for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.
Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has endured a difficult year, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the New York tournament.
His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in specific - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally splitting with long-time coach Cervara.
Presently working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily progressed in the past month - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.
It is Medvedev's maiden title since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt from spring of 2023.
Victory also indicates the Russian has won 21 victories at 21 different competitions.
"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters together, so to win a title is especially meaningful," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."
The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, including in Halle earlier this year.
The player's retrieving play style and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had led observers to wonder if his capacity to compete at the highest level was concluded.
However the player has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to approach the net and play assertively, backed up by an improved service.
He fought back from a deficit in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, winning four of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.
The pair swapped break points in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden professional victory, gained dominance to push for a decider.
The opponent defended four early break points in a tight deciding set before Medvedev broke to 15 to close out the victory.
Fittingly, the winner secured victory with a point at the net area, with his opponent unable to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
